Software Programmer

For over 29 years, The Music People, Inc. has been a highly respected national business-to-business distributor of musical accessories and pro-audio equipment to music retailers and sound contractors across the country.

We are currently seeking a software programmer who would be responsible for programming select client-server systems. This position would focus primarily on programming our ERP software. You will collaborate with various users on existing and desired functionality and then develop and implement solutions from concept to code, as well as be responsible for related project management tasks including producing documentation, training, etc.

Specific Responsibilities

• Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) program called Microsoft Dynamics - NAV (aka Navision Attain).  By programming in its object oriented based language C/Side (and future SQL versions) you will develop solutions to address operational issues, add new functionality, implement upgrades and add-ons.
• Content Management System (CMS) program called Apsiva.  Help pilot this new solution and develop integration solutions with our ERP and E-Commerce solutions in an SQL environment.

Skills and Experiences:

We are looking for a software developer with excellent programming skills and an aptitude for learning new programming languages and applications quickly. We are looking for a proficient programmer who would like to understand how a business, which has all the same complexities of a Fortune 500 company, but the culture of an entrepreneurial startup, works. Your ability to quickly and effectively develop software solutions using a logical problem solving thought process is key to this role. We prefer candidates to possess a minimum of three years proven experience in the respective technologies.


The Ideal Database Developer Candidate will be able to prove through on-the-fly code analysis and presentation of previous code designed that they have a strong working knowledge of object oriented languages (i.e. VB, Visual Studio, Object Pascal, C/C++/C#, .Net, etc.), SQL database environments, ability to learn and understand new languages and applications quickly, and thorough understanding of debugging and software design projects. Business or accounting knowledge would be a plus.
